Lord Narasimha is also known as
Yadagiri, hence the name Yadagirigutta.
Sanctum Sanctorum
The inner sanctum or Garbhagriha
is in a cave under a huge rock slating, covering half of the house.
History
In Tretayugam lived a sage named
Yadarishi, son of the great sage Rishyasrunga and Santa Devi who did penance in
a cave with the blessing of Anjaneya (Hanuman) on this hill between Bhongir
(Bhuvanagiri) and Raigiri (in the Nalgonda district Telangana, [3] India).
Satisfied with his deep devotion, Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu
appeared to him in five different ways Jwala, Yogananda, Gandabherunda, Ugra
and Lakshminarasimha. Later they were made of finely sculpted forms that later
came to be worshiped as Pancha Narasimha Kshetram.

which the faithful came as a compass to guide them to the temple.

Another legend says that Sriman
Narayana, happy penance Yada, Sri Anjaneya sent to direct Rishi in a holy place
where the Lord appeared to him in the form of Sri Lakshminarasimha. This place
is marked by a temple at the foot of the hill Yadagiri and is located about 5
km from the present church. There, the sage loved the Lord for many years.
After Yadarishi attained moksha,
a number of tribal groups, hearing of the presence of the Lord came to worship
in this temple. But, not being very wise, those devotees began to participate
in the undue worship, therefore, Sri Lakshminarasimha moved to the hills. The
tribes tried for years to find his Lord in vain. After many years have passed,
